SRRC type approval (Radio Transmission Equipment Type Approval) is mainland China’s mandatory approval regime for radio transmission equipment, administered by the Radio Regulation Bureau of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Radio transmission equipment sold or used in China—including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 2G/3G/4G/5G cellular modules and other transmitters—must first obtain a Radio Transmission Equipment Type Approval Certificate, and the type-approval code (CMIIT ID) must be marked on the device. RF testing must be performed by designated testing laboratories in China, covering transmit power, frequency range, occupied bandwidth, spurious emissions, and other RF parameters. The certificate is valid for five years and may be renewed upon expiry. Products that also fall within the CCC catalogue or that connect to public telecommunication networks additionally require CCC certification or a Network Access License (NAL); the three approvals are independent of one another.
