Brazil Releases Draft Regulations for AFC Systems in the 5.925–6.425 GHz Band

On October 2, 2026, Brazil submitted a notification to the WTO (No. G/TBT/N/BRA/1643) regarding Public Consultation No. 42/2026. This proposal is expected to establish guidelines for the authorization, operation, and conformity assessment of Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC) systems operating in the 5.925–6.425 GHz band.

Scope and Application

This measure involves electrical equipment and its parts, audio-visual recording and reproduction equipment (HS Code: 85), and telecommunications and audio-visual engineering (ICS category: 33). The proposal is expected to cover the following items:

• Technical and operational requirements for AFC systems.
• Registration procedures for AFC systems.
• Authorization regulations for system operation.

The measure is currently in the draft stage, with the deadline for comments set for October 3, 2026. Relevant manufacturers should evaluate product compliance based on these technical requirements.
