Will artificial intelligence become conscious? As ChatGPT sweeps the globe, many are pondering this question (another is whether AI will make itself obsolete). Fear and a sense of crisis are quickly replaced by numerous large model products, and most people choose to focus on the present rather than worry about the future. However, many experts and researchers are still exploring whether artificial intelligence can achieve consciousness. While models like ChatGPT possess powerful language processing capabilities and the ability to "answer" questions, they do not yet possess self-awareness or sentience. Consciousness is a complex and multifaceted concept that requires extensive research and understanding to answer comprehensively. Currently, artificial intelligence remains a tool that performs tasks in specific domains and cannot possess subjective consciousness or emotions like humans. As for the question of whether AI will make itself obsolete, it is indeed gaining attention. With continuous technological advancements, some jobs may be replaced by automation, necessitating our consideration of how to adapt and respond to such changes. However, it is also important to emphasize that collaboration and coexistence between AI and humans are possible, and some jobs are uniquely human strengths that cannot be entirely replaced by machines. Therefore, finding a balanced and integrated approach will be a crucial direction for our exploration.
