Enterprise-ready solutions
OpenAI, the team behind ChatGPT, released its latest tool, Sora, in the early hours of the 16th. Named after the Japanese word for "sky," representing "limitless," Sora can generate one-minute realistic videos from brief text descriptions. This revolutionary technology has created a global sensation.
OpenAI states that Sora possesses a deep understanding of language, accurately interpreting user prompts. It further enriches videos with detailed backgrounds, character appearances, and nuanced movements that align with character personalities, generating emotionally rich content. Moreover, Sora can create multiple shots within a single video, maintaining character and visual style consistency, and can depict complex scenes involving multiple characters and specific types of actions.
For example, in a demonstration video, a text prompt asked Sora to generate "a beautiful Tokyo snow scene, with the camera moving along the street, and people walking in a small shop street under falling snow and cherry blossoms." Sora rendered details such as accumulated rainwater on uneven road surfaces and reflections of street signs, even autonomously creating the swaying of skirts as people walked.
Of course, this innovative technology still has areas for improvement. In particularly complex environments, it might not fully grasp causal relationships, such as a candle extinguishing after being blown out, or a cookie showing bite marks after being bitten. These are areas requiring further refinement and improvement. Currently, Sora is not yet publicly available, being offered only to specific individuals for risk assessment and testing. This ensures that various potential issues can be thoroughly considered and rectified before its official launch.
While testing the safety of this new tool, efforts are also being made to identify potential biases related to race, gender, and other factors. Continuous learning and improvement are necessary to ensure the technology better meets user needs and expectations. Videos generated by Sora are subject to review to prevent instructions for "extreme violence, sexual content, hateful imagery, or celebrity likenesses."
In summary, safety testing for new tools is an incremental process that must address not only technical security but also potential value and bias issues. Through close monitoring and refinement, the technology can be ensured to better meet user needs and expectations, while also guaranteeing the legality and compliance of usage rules.
As AI technology continues to advance, we are in an era of technological innovation, which is not only a challenge to existing lifestyles but also an exploration of the future.
