Brazil's Inmetro Issues Ordinance No. 550 Approving Consolidated Air Conditioning Regulations

Regulatory Background
On September 10, 2026, Brazil's Inmetro signed Ordinance No. 550, which was subsequently notified on September 16, 2026 (Ref: G/TBT/N/BRA/964/Add.8).

Regulatory Content
Through this ordinance, Inmetro has approved the consolidated air conditioning regulations, which include:
- Annex I: Conformity assessment requirements.
- Annex II: Specifications for the conformity identification mark, namely the National Energy Conservation Label (ENCE).
Scope of Application
This measure applies to air conditioning equipment under HS Code 8415, including machines consisting of motor-driven fans and elements for changing temperature and humidity (whether or not humidity can be separately regulated) and their parts. It also covers ventilators, fans, and air conditioning equipment under ICS Code 23.120. The objective of this regulation is to establish quality requirements.
