CCC stands for “China Compulsory Certification.” The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China (AQSIQ) establishes the rules and procedures for CCC product certification. It is the certification that the vast majority of foreign products must obtain to be sold on the Chinese market; certified products have passed scrutiny in areas such as basic safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and environmental protection. CCC was formed by merging three certification marks—CCEE (Great Wall), CCIB, and CEMC—whose scopes overlapped without mutual recognition. The World Trade Organization strongly urged China to consolidate all of these marks, and the CCC certification mark was thus created.
